Togo begins presidency

The togolese representative at the UN, Kodjo Menan, hosted the ambassadors of the UNSC member states on the first day of the togolese presidency.

Mr. Menan held talks with representatives from India, Russia, Pakistan, the US, Morocco, Columbia, Portugal and Guatemala.

On thursday, he shall discuss the UNSC program for the month of february to the non-member states and go into the details of the theme chosen by Togo for the public debate of february 21st : " Threats to peace and international security brought by criminality in West Africa and the Sahel".

The criminal activities include drug trafficking, laundering for south american cartels and terrorism. For the Sahel, there is concern regarding the dissemination of the Libyan arsenal following the collapse of the Kadhafi regime. 

In the afternoon, Kodjo  Menan shall give a press conference.
